The rescue of orangutans, as one of the symbols of the beauty of wildlife, has become a priority for rescue and environmental protection groups in recent weeks. With the flames raging in the forests of Central Kalimantan, these creatures are at risk from the fires, and many of them have been severely injured.
Fire and Smoke; A Threat to Wildlife
Amidst the thick smoke and flames, rescue groups have faced numerous difficulties. One such case is a female orangutan named "Novita" who was found in the Katuna forest. Novita was severely injured and clung to a tree with burned hands and feet. She had climbed up the tree to escape the fire but ultimately became trapped by the flames and smoke.

Such incidents are not rare, and rescue groups have reported that dozens of other orangutans have been rescued under similar conditions. The recent fires in Central Kalimantan have severely impacted the survival and health of these creatures. Given that orangutans are at risk of extinction, this issue becomes even more concerning.
Human Origins of the Fires
What is more thought-provoking is that reports indicate that some of these fires may have occurred due to human agricultural activities. Farmers, instead of using costly machinery, resort to cheap and dangerous methods that not only damage their lands but also harm wildlife and the ecosystem.
This ruthless behavior occurs while wildlife is not only a source of natural beauty but also a part of the Earth's ecological cycle. Ignoring this issue could have irreparable consequences for the future of habitats and endangered species.
Rescue groups are working tirelessly to continue saving these creatures while also raising public awareness about these issues. They hope that by increasing awareness and taking preventive measures, they can prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
