The Ramsar Cancer Patients Support Association in Mazandaran has recently acquired an independent office. This achievement is the result of the efforts of Khadijeh Davtalab, the CEO of this association and the wife of the late Nasser Halajian, who entered this field with the intention of helping cancer patients.
From Financial Problems to Establishing the Association
Khadijeh Davtalab, in an interview with reporters, referred to the financial problems faced by cancer patients and said: "When I was the hospital director, I became closely acquainted with the problems of these patients and saw that the treatment costs were very heavy for them, and the vast majority of patients could not afford these expenses. This issue made me think about establishing a charity center to support cancer patients."

She further added: "In 2009, after retirement, I decided to consult with the elders of the city and doctors to establish a charity center for supporting patients. Eventually, in 2013, with the help of several benefactors and doctors, we were able to establish this association. From the very beginning, we faced the problem of securing a location, but we received the permit to operate the association in the same year."
Halajian's Lasting Gift
Davtalab explained how the independent office of the association was established: "My late husband had an apartment unit in the city center, which he provided to the association. Since the second half of 2013, this unit became the operational base of the association, and all related expenses, even the costs of holding meetings, were covered by my husband so that the amounts people paid to support patients would be spent on the patients themselves."
Recalling the difficult times of her husband's illness during the COVID-19 pandemic, she stated: "My husband contracted this disease during the pandemic and passed away. He always participated in charitable activities and contributed to the development of the city and was a supporter of the association. Given the association's need for a more suitable space, I tried to prepare a building for this purpose."
Ultimately, Khadijeh Davtalab equipped this place by covering the costs of administrative equipment and necessary facilities and handed over the keys for the association's use to its officials. She concluded by saying: "I hope God accepts this work."
