Shahin Shadnia, the head of Laghman Hospital in Tehran, reported an astronomical increase in the prices of essential medications and a severe shortage of strategic drugs at this medical center. He stated that the costs of medical services and pharmaceutical items have risen sharply, particularly impacting the vulnerable segments of society.
Increase in Drug Prices and Pressure on Patients
Shadnia pointed out that a medication that was previously purchased for 500,000 to 600,000 tomans is now facing multiple increases and astronomical figures, emphasizing that this situation has serious impacts on people's livelihoods, especially patients. This price increase has exacerbated existing concerns regarding the availability of essential medications.

Shortage of Specialized Medications and Emergency Solutions
The head of Laghman Hospital also reported a crisis in the shortage of specialized medications, stating that despite the government's and medical staff's efforts to secure medications, some strategic items are severely unavailable. He added that in some cases, medical staff have to direct patients and their companions to places like Pharmacy 13 Aban or the market outside the hospital to obtain medications.
Shadnia further identified the unjust sanctions and targeting of the country's pharmaceutical infrastructure as the fundamental cause of these fluctuations and shortages. According to him, international sanctions have hindered the direct import of some vital and essential medications into the treatment cycle, and damage to the production lines of domestic pharmaceutical factories has fueled this crisis.
Efforts of Medical Staff to Maintain Service Quality
Despite these challenges, Shadnia emphasized that the medical team is fully committed to maintaining the quality of treatment for poisoning cases and other patients. He spoke of the solidarity and cooperation of the medical staff in these difficult conditions and expressed hope that with more collaboration and efforts, they can overcome the existing problems.
Ultimately, the medication crisis and price increases at Laghman Hospital are just one example of the significant challenges facing the country's health system, which requires immediate attention and action from officials and relevant institutions. This situation not only affects the quality of medical services but also casts a shadow over people's lives and raises serious concerns.
