Possible floods have been predicted in 6 provinces of the country. The national meteorological organization, by issuing an orange warning, reported the occurrence of showers and thunderstorms in the provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, North Khorasan, the northern half of Razavi Khorasan, and Qazvin.

Heavy Rainfall Forecast Until Wednesday

Kobra Rafiei, an expert at the national meteorological organization, announced that rain showers and thunderstorms in these provinces will continue until Wednesday. These rains could lead to flooding and the overflow of seasonal rivers. Additionally, waterlogging of streets and disruption of transportation services will also be other consequences of this situation.

Rafiei also referred to the expected rainfall on Wednesday, stating that areas in the northwest and west of the country will also be affected by the rainfall. In the afternoon and early evening hours, rain showers are also expected in the provinces of Kerman, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchestan.

Hazards and Warnings

The orange weather warning has been issued due to rain showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds in some areas. In susceptible points, there is also a possibility of hail. Among the hazards of these conditions are flooding, overflow of seasonal rivers, waterlogging of streets, and slippery roads. Additionally, there is a risk of lightning and the breaking of old and decayed trees.

In these conditions, an increase in wind speed and wave height in coastal and offshore areas of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces is also accompanied by a yellow marine warning. Swimmers and small boats should exercise more caution and avoid swimming in these areas.

The expert at the national meteorological organization also announced that rain showers are expected in the highlands of Tehran province. The temperature fluctuations in the capital will be between 15 to 22 degrees Celsius, and the trend of decreasing temperature in Tehran will continue.
