In the 441st meeting of the Tehran City Council, the irrigation status of the trees in Chitgar Park and the reasons for their damage became a hot topic. Mehdi Chamran, the Chairman of the Tehran City Council, emphasized in this meeting that the water issue in Chitgar Park has been resolved in the past two years and necessary actions have been taken in a timely manner. He added that without these actions, the remaining trees would have also dried up.

Mehdi Aghariyan, the Chairman of the Council's Legal Committee, stressed the need for a comprehensive examination of the reasons for the damage to Chitgar Park. He referred to water tensions and shortages and called for clarity regarding the responsibilities of the Tehran Municipality. Achievements of the Municipality in Reviving the Water Supply Network
Mehdi Pirhadi, the Chairman of the Council's Health, Environment, and Urban Services Committee, also referred to the water crisis and stated that due to the lack of water allocation by the Ministry of Energy, the water supply to the park was cut off for a period. He announced the implementation of about 40 kilometers of water transfer network during this period and stated that for the first time, a comprehensive plan for Chitgar Park has been developed by the country's elites.
Abbasali Nobakht, the CEO of the Tehran Parks and Green Spaces Organization, also addressed the history of Chitgar Park in this meeting and announced that from 1991 to 2021, the average rainfall in this area has significantly decreased, posing challenges for vegetation. He also referred to the cutting of the 500-liter water rights from the Amir Kabir Dam, which has exacerbated existing problems.
Nobakht mentioned the examination of the green space status through artificial intelligence and aerial images, noting that a committee with the presence of elites and NGOs has been formed to monitor the status of plants. He highlighted the necessity of gradually changing the shape of Tehran's green spaces and paying attention to the climate, stating that every one-degree increase in temperature increases the water needs of plants.
At the end, Mehdi Chamran answered reporters' questions and also referred to the council's recommendations in various areas of tourism and transportation. He emphasized that the municipality will respond to the members' recommendations and is currently pursuing issues related to urban development.
