Macklemore, the famous American rapper, concluded his three-day tour titled 'Free Palestine' with a final and passionate performance in London. This concert, held on Friday, October 30 at the OVO Arena Wembley, attracted an enthusiastic crowd and turned into a wave of support for the Palestinian people. Macklemore delivered a strong message of solidarity and support by gathering some of the biggest names in music and activism.

Presence of Artists and Activists

At this event, artists such as Paloma Faith, the English singer, and Namasis, the Canadian-Palestinian singer, performed. Additionally, Greta Thunberg, the environmental activist, and Arab Barghouti, the Palestinian activist and son of Marwan Barghouti, were also present at the ceremony. This gathering of artists and activists came together to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Macklemore's concerts in Dublin, Paris, and London quickly sold out, indicating high demand for support of this humanitarian issue. On the last day of his tour, he spoke about his feelings, stating that remaining silent in the face of the Gaza war had become harder than speaking out. He told the audience, 'I kept scrolling through social media and witnessing this horrific and unimaginable disaster unfolding right before our eyes, and at some point, remaining silent became more painful than speaking.'

Performance of Protest Song

Macklemore faced cheers from the audience and chants of 'Free Palestine' as he performed the song 'Hind’s Hall,' which he wrote in response to the Gaza war. These concerts were held as charity events, with all proceeds going to 12 organizations supporting Palestine.

Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg reminded attendees at the opening ceremony that charity concerts and grants alone are not enough. She emphasized the importance of solidarity alongside political changes, stating, 'Occupation will not end with charity and slogans.'

Namasis, whose real name is Naima Hassan, also performed at the event and conveyed her message to the crowd. Following her, Hozier, the Irish singer, called for more attention to the 55 students from Gaza awaiting visas to study in Ireland.

These concerts are seen not only as a musical event but also as a tool for raising awareness and global solidarity with the Palestinian people. Macklemore and his accompanying artists demonstrated that music can be the voice of those who have remained silent under the shadow of war and oppression.
