Mehrdad Ziaei, actor and director's advisor, emphasized the importance of communication among different generations of artists while referring to his role in the play 'Dispossessed'. In this play, which will be performed starting from November 1st, he portrays the character of Babak Khorramdin's father and considers this experience very special.
Generational Challenges in Theater
Ziaei, in an interview with ISNA, identified the disconnect between different generations of artists as one of the most significant challenges in theater in recent years. He said: "The majority of the cast members in this production are very young and some have not yet entered the professional theater space. I believe there should always be a close connection between various generations of theater practitioners." He also pointed out that these gaps harm theater and cause regret among artists who have been unable to pass on their experiences to new generations.

The Story of the Play 'Dispossessed'
The play 'Dispossessed', written and directed by Amir Agha Bagheri, narrates the life story of Babak Khorramdin's parents, a young artist who was killed by his father. Ziaei explained about this play: "We do not perform the exact reality, but we have looked at this story from a different angle." He added that the character of Babak Khorramdin's father has many complexities, which is very appealing for an actor. In this play, he emphasizes how decayed thoughts can influence characters and lead to crimes.
Ziaei also referred to the social mission of theater, saying: "We believe the writer and director have created a space to provoke the audience to pay more attention to social issues." He highlighted the importance of raising awareness in society through theater and mentioned that the play 'Dispossessed' is based on one of the real events of recent years.
This play, recommended for audiences over 16 years old, features a production team including producers such as Nouraldin Heydari Maher and actors like Saghar Khajeh Amiri and Babak Abdi. The play is performed every night at 8:30 PM for 75 minutes in Hall No. 4 of the 'Smile' Theater complex.
