Isaac Berc, a retired general of the Israeli regime's army and former head of military complaints, warned in an article about the worsening mental health crisis in Israeli society due to the consequences of wars. Berc stated that individuals suffering from psychological damage can become a ticking time bomb threatening the entire Israeli society.
Consequences of War on Mind and Spirit
This Zionist general pointed to the profound effects of wars on the mental health of soldiers and Israeli settlers, adding that many of them suffer from the psychological effects of war. Berc noted the lack of resources and the exhaustion of the healthcare system, criticizing that soldiers suffering from 'post-traumatic stress disorder' face complex bureaucratic procedures. According to him, some are forced to undergo exhausting processes to prove their condition, which only exacerbates their psychological suffering.

Lack of Support from the Government and Families
Berc also referred to the widespread limitations in the Israeli cabinet's support for those suffering from mental disorders, emphasizing that the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu has not prioritized individuals with psychological damage. Instead of funding treatment for these individuals, large budgets are allocated to election campaigns and extremist groups. This has added to the psychological and financial burden that families of patients endure.
The head of the Israeli army's medical services, Avi Shana, also confirmed this crisis and pointed to the unprecedented reality that the military medical system is facing. He stated that real challenges begin after soldiers are discharged from hospitals, and the process of treatment and rehabilitation continues for a long time. Given the increase in psychological distress among soldiers and the severe shortage of human resources, physical injuries only constitute part of the crisis.
Recent reports indicate that nearly 170,000 soldiers, especially reserve forces, have requested psychological treatment due to war-related mental injuries. Despite the deployment of specialists to assist Zionist soldiers during battles and the establishment of special hotline services and group therapy sessions, experts warn that Israel is still not equipped to deal with this scale of psychological damage.
Many Israeli army personnel who have suffered psychological damage feel a sense of aimlessness and struggle to form relationships with others. This situation not only affects their mental health but may also negatively impact the trust of younger generations in the military institution and their motivation to serve.
