Dr. Reza Saidi, head of the Youth Population, Family Health, and Schools Center at the Ministry of Health, announced the start of the health screening program for students in four educational levels. This program aims to identify diseases in a timely manner and prevent potential disabilities in the future, and is being implemented simultaneously with the assessment of the physical health and academic readiness of new students at special education assessment centers.

Screening and Health Assessment Stages

According to Dr. Saidi, new students will be referred to comprehensive health service centers, bases, and health houses after visiting the assessment centers and undergoing initial evaluations, including growth monitoring, skin and hair assessment, oral and dental health, vision and hearing tests, and assessments of intelligence and academic readiness. This referral is for medical examinations and to complete vaccinations.

Additionally, students from other grades will also be referred to urban and rural comprehensive health centers in coordination with the education department. This process helps to identify at-risk students in a timely manner.

Medical Services and Health Status Follow-up

Dr. Saidi noted the type of services provided, emphasizing that periodic care is conducted based on the care forms of the "Sib" system. If students have disorders, they will be referred to specialized centers, and their health status will be monitored until results are obtained from these evaluations.

He also explained that examinations are conducted at two levels: non-medical and medical. Non-medical services include assessments of vaccination status, growth, vision, hearing, skin and hair, oral and dental health, and mental health. Medical services include reviewing medical histories and conducting specialized examinations.

The goal of this program is not only to identify health problems but also to ensure timely assessments, targeted referrals, and follow-up on students' health status. Ultimately, students who exhibit abnormal signs or findings during health service provision will require further examination.

Dr. Saidi emphasized that "referral" is not the end of the process, and the aim is to ensure the correct path to service is followed until the health status of the student is determined. Therefore, the Ministry of Health is seeking to create a cohesive pathway among schools, health caregivers, health networks, and families so that students in need can access the necessary services in a timely manner, according to their issues.
