The Date and Palm Festival in Karun County will begin from September 17 to 18 with the presence of artists and enthusiasts of this sweet fruit. This event will take place in the tourist village of Ghazaviyeh Koochak and is planned to create social vitality and economic prosperity for the people of this region.

Goals and Programs of the Festival

Ahmad Yousofi, head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Karun County, says about the goals of this festival: "This year's festival aims to provide cultural and artistic opportunities, increase public participation, and foster interaction between the local community and artists." He also pointed to the existing capacities in the county and emphasized that the festival can help boost tourism and attract investment in this region.

The festival will be held in three main sections: exhibition, competition, and side events. In the exhibition section, booths selling various dates, fresh dates, and other date-related products will be set up. Additionally, exhibitions of handicrafts, local bread and pastries, and a photo exhibition on date harvesting will be among the other sections of this festival.

Competitions and Entertainment

The competitive section of the festival will include contests for the best date product, the best date product derivative, and the best photo. In the side events, there will be joyful programs and performances by artistic groups and well-known singers. This festival will be held for the first time with this approach in Karun County and will help introduce the capabilities of this region.

Karun County, with about one million date palms, is recognized as one of the most important date production hubs in Iran. Yousofi explains in this regard: "This county has favorable agricultural capacities and water resources, and the activities of agricultural groups and related industries have created the conditions for producing high-quality products."

Moreover, some of the date products produced in the county are exported to foreign countries, although sanctions have impacted the export process. Yousofi emphasizes that the main goal of the festival is to introduce various types of dates and their products to the public, as many people are only familiar with the general term 'date' and do not have a precise understanding of its different types.

This festival will be held at the provincial level with careful planning, and it is expected to receive a good reception from the public and tourists. The programs will take place from 5 PM to 10 PM so that, considering the heat, enthusiasts can benefit from this event.
