A gang of home burglars in Tehran aimed to steal gold, dollars, and coins using a novel and calculated approach. These four young and previously convicted thieves, who had been imprisoned for pickpocketing and phone theft, decided to change their specialty at the beginning of last winter.
A Precise Plan for Theft
These individuals targeted various neighborhoods in Tehran, initially ringing the doorbells of apartments to ensure that the residents were absent. After identifying vacant homes, two members of the gang used a crowbar to break into the apartments and began stealing valuable items.

Strange Tactic to Divert Attention
However, the roles of the other two members of this gang were very crucial and, at the same time, strange. They were responsible for keeping watch on the street. As soon as one of these two noticed passersby or residents approaching the targeted building, they would approach the person and create a fake fight to divert their attention from the building. By shouting and causing a commotion to make it seem like a real altercation, they provided an escape opportunity for their accomplices. After their partners had distanced themselves, they would leave the scene with a fake apology to the person present.
The End of the Theft Story
This scenario was repeated several times until a few days ago, when two members of the gang were in the act of stealing, and the police patrol became suspicious of their staged fight. Officers, who had been tracking these thieves, quickly intervened and arrested the suspects. Although the suspects initially denied any wrongdoing, they eventually confessed. With the confessions of these two, the other two accomplices, who had successfully stolen a large amount of gold and dollars from a house that night, were identified and arrested the following day.
Investigation Continues
The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations to uncover other possible thefts by them are ongoing. This case highlights how theft methods are changing in society and the necessity for increased surveillance and vigilance against such actions.
