The transfer of water from the Caspian Sea to the Gorgan Gulf is a topic that has recently been placed on the agenda of the Environmental Protection Organization. Lahijan-Zadeh, the Deputy of Marine Environment and Wetlands of this organization, referred to the serious dangers arising from the drying up of the Gorgan Gulf and said: "Losing the Gorgan Gulf will turn into a center for dust storms." This issue not only harms the region's environment but can also have widespread negative impacts on public health and agriculture.
Risks of the Drying Up of the Gorgan Gulf
The Gorgan Gulf, as one of the most important aquatic ecosystems in the country, plays a vital role in preserving biodiversity and providing water resources for agriculture and the livelihoods of the people. Lahijan-Zadeh further added: "If necessary measures for storing and transferring water to this gulf are not taken, we will soon witness the drying up of this area." This situation could lead to increased dust and air pollution, which in turn will exacerbate health and environmental crises in the region.

Actions for the Protection of the Gorgan Gulf
The Environmental Protection Organization is trying to halt the degradation of this ecosystem with new planning. The transfer of water from the Caspian Sea to the Gorgan Gulf is one of the solutions that seems essential, especially in the current conditions of drought and water scarcity facing the country. According to Lahijan-Zadeh, "Planning for this water transfer is underway, and we hope that with the cooperation of government and local organizations, this project will soon be implemented."
In this regard, international cooperation can also help strengthen these efforts. Considering the successful experiences of other countries in water resource management, modern techniques and technologies can be utilized to improve the situation of the Gorgan Gulf.
