Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company, as one of the key entities in the country's rail transport industry, has taken steps to produce five national trains this year with the aim of improving the quality of services and the metro fleet. Alireza Sheikh Taheri, the CEO of this company, elaborated on the details of this project and the overhaul process of the metro fleet in an interview.
Details of National Train Production
Sheikh Taheri stated that to produce national trains, Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company has signed contracts with Tehran Metro. Out of a total of 15 contracted trains, two trains were delivered in Azar and Esfand of last year. He continued that the company's goal is to add three more trains to the metro fleet by the end of this year.

Collaboration with Tehran Bus Company
Alongside the production of national trains, Sheikh Taheri referred to the initiation of new collaboration between Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company and Tehran Bus Company. This collaboration aims to utilize the capabilities of wagon manufacturing for the overhaul of old buses in Tehran. The CEO of Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company emphasized the importance of this project and stated that the overhaul of trains is progressing rapidly. This year, in the first six months, the equivalent of the entire last year’s overhaul of metro trains has been completed.
Progress in Metro Fleet Overhaul
Sheikh Taheri, referring to the statistics of fleet overhaul last year, announced that about 15 trains have been overhauled, while by the end of Shahrivar this year, another 12 trains have also been overhauled. He stated that this process will continue, adding that the company's plan is to completely overhaul 30 trains by the end of the year.
