Sadr al-Din Qabanchi, the Imam of Najaf, reacted to the closure of the al-Shayb (Chazabeh) crossing by stating that this action was taken suddenly and without any warning or explanation. Expressing concern for the situation of the pilgrims and traders who have been left in limbo as a result of this decision, he called for the immediate reopening of this crossing.

Situation of Pilgrims and Traders

The Imam of Najaf emphasized that the closure of the al-Shayb crossing could have negative repercussions on the situation of the pilgrims and traders, stating: "Thousands of pilgrims and traders have been left in limbo between the two countries." He also described this situation as inappropriate and wrong in the relations between the two countries and urged officials to address this issue.

Consequences of the Border Closure

Iraqi lawmakers and officials must pay special attention to this situation, as the border closure not only affects the pilgrims but can also harm the economic and social relations between the two countries. Qabanchi pointed out that this action could be part of a pressure campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating: "While condemning this situation, we demand an acceptable and convincing explanation."

Furthermore, the Imam of Najaf noted that this situation could impact the economic and political conditions of the region and urged Iraqi officials to take prompt actions to resolve the issues faced by pilgrims and traders.

Ultimately, the Imam of Najaf emphasized that the rights of pilgrims and traders must be prioritized and requested that officials take any necessary actions to reopen the border. Qabanchi's request reflects the importance of cultural and economic relations between Iran and Iraq and its impact on the people of both countries.
