The death of 10,357 Iranians in traffic accidents in the first half of this year is a serious warning for society. This statistic shows that out of this number, 8,328 were men and 2,029 were women. Although the number of casualties has decreased compared to last year, this figure remains concerning due to its human and social dimensions.
Decrease in Casualties in September
The Medical Legal Organization of the country reported that in September of this year, 1,856 people lost their lives due to traffic accidents. Out of this number, 1,502 were men and 354 were women. Despite the increase in traffic during this month, the casualty statistics have decreased by 10 percent compared to last year. This reduction indicates the positive impact of adhering to laws and warnings by fellow citizens, as well as control and safety measures.

High-Risk Provinces
In analyzing the statistics, the three provinces of Fars, Tehran, and Khorasan Razavi faced the highest number of traffic casualties in the first half of this year. Fars recorded 823, Tehran 775, and Khorasan Razavi 737 casualties, making them the provinces with the highest statistics. In contrast, the provinces of Ilam with 119, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad with 120, and Qom with 147 fatalities had the lowest casualties during this period.
Furthermore, 7,137 people died in intercity accidents, 2,639 in urban accidents, and 551 in rural accidents. Of all the injured, 160,620 were men and 63,600 were women who visited medical legal centers.
Risks for Youth
The Medical Legal Organization of the country emphasized the dangers of traffic accidents for young people and urged families to take better care of their youth. According to statistics, the highest number of traffic accident fatalities, totaling 1,868, is in the age group of 18 to 24 years, which constitutes 18 percent of total casualties. This clearly indicates the importance of adhering to laws and exercising caution while driving.
Additionally, statistics show that 455 children aged 10 and under have also lost their lives in accidents. This figure is not only alarming but also necessitates immediate attention and preventive measures.
Ultimately, authorities must work together with families and responsible organizations to reduce the statistics of traffic accident casualties and provide necessary education to youth and families regarding adherence to driving laws and accident prevention. This can help save the lives of many fellow citizens.
