Sharif University of Technology, as one of the top educational institutions in the country, has been revising its cultural and communication structures following the events of December and the challenges arising from them. Masoud Tajrishi, the president of this university, elaborated on the institution's plans to rebuild trust and develop academic vitality in an interview with an Ana reporter.

The Necessity of Dialogue and Changing Approach

Tajrishi believes that the root cause of the recent events relates to "narrative building" and the lack of effective communication between faculty members and students. He emphasizes that the new generation of students receives their narratives from other sources, and the absence of a common language between professors and students has deepened this generational gap. He states: "Many parents were also unaware of their children's situation, and this lack of awareness exacerbated tensions.

Tajrishi continues that many students today express regret, saying they did not understand the consequences of their actions. He points out that changing the approach in all university structures, including cultural groups, counseling, and the cultural vice presidency, is essential to establish effective and healthy communication with students.

Creating Vitality and Hope in the University Environment

Tajrishi believes that to prevent the recurrence of such events, a real atmosphere of hope and vitality must be created in the university. Referring to the university's new initiatives, he announces the revival of cultural camps and the organization of sports competitions, stating: "We have a structured program for each week and have asked professors to engage in dialogue with students instead of merely lecturing."

He also mentions the necessity of building trust among students, saying: "Based on past experiences, if we neglect this, young people may return to despair."

Challenges of Scientific Apartheid

Another serious issue that Sharif University faces is the matter of "scientific apartheid." Tajrishi refers to the international pressures and unjust sanctions that hinder the scientific growth of Iranian scholars, stating: "The sanctions against Sharif University are a political decision, and there is a will to obstruct our progress." He cites an instance where a scientific paper in the field of agriculture was banned from publication due to sanctions.

Tajrishi emphasizes that under these circumstances, Sharif University needs appropriate financial and managerial support to turn its capabilities into hope, and in this regard, it collaborates with alumni and various institutions.

Ultimately, the president of Sharif University stresses the importance of building trust and creating a space for dialogue between professors and students, saying: "If we can rebuild these bridges of communication, we hope that similar incidents will not recur."
