Seyyed Mohammad Baqir Jafari, the Director General of International Students Affairs of the Organization for Student Affairs, along with Mohammad Javad Najafi, the scientific attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran and representative of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in the Sham region, visited the Sabtain University of Medical Sciences (AS) in Karbala. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen scientific and academic collaborations, facilitate educational and research exchanges, and utilize common capacities in the field of medical education and rehabilitation.

Commemoration of World Occupational Therapy Day

As part of this program, the delegation participated in the commemoration ceremony of World Occupational Therapy Day, organized by the Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation in collaboration with various departments of Sabtain University. This ceremony was attended by professors, domestic and foreign specialists, and a group of students, where university officials elaborated on the vital role of occupational therapy in rehabilitation and enhancing the independence of patients.

During this scientific event, specialized lectures on mental health and neurological disorders were presented, and students introduced the status and importance of the field of occupational therapy. Additionally, speakers and 9 top students were honored. At the end of this program, three specialized and practical workshops on topics such as stroke, speech rehabilitation, and physical rehabilitation were held at the Comprehensive Medical Rehabilitation Center, which helped strengthen the connection between theoretical education and clinical skills of students.

Specialized Meeting and Discussion of Solutions

On the sidelines of this visit, a joint specialized meeting was held among Dr. Jafari, Dr. Najafi, members of the Sabtain University Board of Trustees, and a number of professors sent from Iran. In this meeting, practical solutions for the development of scientific and educational cooperation, accelerating the process of faculty and student exchanges, and following up on the welfare and educational affairs of students were discussed and exchanged.

These collaborations and scientific interactions can lead to the creation of new opportunities for students and professors in both countries and help enhance the quality of education and research in the fields of medicine and rehabilitation. Given the existing capacities and the willingness of both countries to cooperate, it is expected that such meetings and sessions will continue regularly and lead to the development of knowledge and technology in related fields.
