Challenges for the Elderly and Concerns
The head of the Welfare Organization of Iran pointed out that 260,000 elderly individuals in Iran have disabilities, stating: "65 percent of Iranians have mental concerns about the situation of the elderly." According to Seyed Javad Hosseini, for every 100 elderly individuals, 12 are involved in issues related to the elderly. This statistic indicates the serious challenges that Iranian society faces in dealing with the elderly.
These concerns are not only related to the physical condition and health of the elderly but also to loneliness and lack of social support. For instance, currently, there are 77,000 elderly women heads of households in Iran who are living in solitude. This issue requires special attention and more precise planning from responsible organizations.
Need for Effective Actions
Seyed Javad Hosseini emphasized the necessity of addressing this issue and planning necessary actions to support the elderly. He stated that given the growing trend of the elderly population, there is an increasing need to create appropriate social and health services for this group in society. Meanwhile, more attention should be paid to the specific needs of elderly individuals with disabilities.
In conclusion, the head of the Welfare Organization of Iran stressed the importance of raising public awareness and creating educational programs for families and society to support the elderly. Considering the growing elderly population in Iran, these actions can help improve the quality of life and enhance the mental and physical health of this group.
