Seyyed Reza Salehi Amiri on Wednesday evening at the inauguration ceremony of one of the hotels in Isfahan, held on the occasion of World Tourism Day, considered Isfahan to be more than just an urban geography and stated: Isfahan should not be viewed merely from the perspective of buildings, structures, streets, and roads, but should be recognized as a vast civilization across Iran.
Cultural Heritage and the Threat of Land Subsidence
He stated that the underlying layers of culture and civilization in Isfahan still hold many unknowns for the people of Iran and the world, adding: The more we strive to understand this geography, the more capacities of its culture and civilization will be revealed. The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts emphasized the historical breadth of Isfahan's civilization, asserting: Any geography where a trace of the Safavid period is found is part of the Isfahan civilization, and this civilization cannot be confined within the closed geographical borders of today.

Salehi Amiri emphasized the necessity of continuing research and historical excavations in Isfahan, stating: The historical artifacts of this city contain multiple layers of civilization, and some of Isfahan's historical structures are the result of the intersection of several important historical periods. He also warned about land subsidence in Isfahan and stressed: This is a serious problem, and all the country's efforts must be mobilized to save Isfahan from this ominous phenomenon.
Tourism Development and Isfahan's Capacities
The Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts also pointed to Isfahan's tourism capacities, stating: Isfahan encompasses a collection of historical, cultural, and natural attractions of Iran from a tourism perspective, and this capacity should be transformed into an effective advantage for attracting tourists through the development of appropriate infrastructure. Currently, hundreds of hotels, hotel apartments, and boutique hotels are active in Isfahan province, and a significant number of star-rated hotels also operate in this province.
He further referred to the plan to convert the RIsbaf complex in Isfahan into a large cultural complex, stating: This complex, with an area of approximately 69,000 square meters, can become the largest cultural structure in Iran. Salehi Amiri added: Agreements have been made with relevant professors and officials to transform RIsbaf in the heart of Isfahan into a large cultural and civilizational complex. Today, Isfahan has an important opportunity to solve problems and develop, and the existing cohesion must be utilized to advance the province's programs.
