A red weather alert has been issued due to heavy rainfall for five provinces of the country. Fariba Goudarzi, an expert at the Meteorological Organization, announced that the activity of the rain system will intensify today in the western part of the country, and therefore, there is a risk of sudden floods and river overflow.
Provinces Affected by Heavy Rainfall
According to Goudarzi, this alert includes northern and eastern Khuzestan, southern and eastern Lorestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and southern and southwestern Kurdistan. This rainfall will occur in the form of rain, thunderstorms, and snow in elevated areas. Additionally, strong winds are also forecasted. This alert will remain in effect until tomorrow, Sunday, in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

Recommendations and Weather Forecast
Experts recommend that citizens avoid unnecessary travel to these areas, camping along riverbanks and beds, as well as engaging in nature tourism and mountaineering activities. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the western strip of the country, the Caspian Sea coast, and the central Alborz and Zagros heights until mid-week. Meanwhile, a noticeable drop in temperature is also predicted in most parts of the country starting from Tuesday.
In Tehran, rain and snow in the heights are expected, with the intensity of rainfall reaching orange alert levels. In these conditions, caution in road traffic is highly recommended.
Moreover, orange alerts have also been issued in areas of Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, Lorestan, and several other provinces due to rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds. This situation may lead to disruptions in transportation and traffic, flooding, and waterlogging of streets.
Potential Damages and Marine Warnings
On the other hand, the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf are also expected to be rough and turbulent. Increased wind speed and wave height may lead to harm to swimmers, tearing fishing nets, and damage to small recreational boats. Therefore, swimming should be avoided, and the movement of light and recreational boats should be restricted.
Goudarzi concluded by mentioning the increase in temperature in recent weeks, adding that the average temperature in the country has risen by 1.9 degrees Celsius compared to the long-term period in the past week. In these conditions, it is expected that heavy rainfall and temperature drops will continue in the coming weeks.
