Naming of streets after the martyrs of the 12-day and 40-day wars is one of the actions currently being reviewed and pursued in the Tehran City Council. Narges Madani-Pour, the head of the Social and Cultural Commission of the Tehran City Council, emphasized the importance of this issue and stated: "Naming a street after prominent martyrs is difficult, and there are few streets worthy of the dignity of these martyrs in Tehran."

Family consent is the main condition for naming

Madani-Pour emphasized that for naming streets, the families of the prominent martyrs must express their consent. This has been considered a crucial principle to ensure respect for the families and to carry out the naming process with greater care. She added: "We also introduce new projects that are about to be inaugurated for naming after prominent martyrs, but the families of the martyrs must also declare their consent."

Challenges of naming streets

The head of the Social and Cultural Commission of the Tehran City Council pointed out the existing challenges in this area and said: "Proposals from institutions and families may differ, and this has caused delays in the naming process. We also have considerations in the commission that must be adhered to according to the regulations."

Considering that naming streets after popular martyrs is done more quickly, different regions continuously present their proposals in the naming commission meetings. Narges Madani-Pour also mentioned that organizations such as the Martyrs Foundation are quickly conducting inquiries with their cooperation.

The importance of naming streets after martyrs

Naming streets after prominent martyrs is not only an administrative action but also a cultural and social act that can keep the memory of these great men alive in the minds of future generations. In various wars and conflicts, many martyrs sacrificed their lives for the homeland, and it is our duty to honor their memory.

Ultimately, naming streets after prominent martyrs can be a suitable opportunity to promote the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom in society and remind young people that these martyrs are representatives of courage and selflessness who should always be respected and remembered.
