Mohsen Namjoo, as one of the well-known figures in Iran's fusion music scene, has recently expressed his longing to meet his fans on social media. His statements have raised the possibility of holding a concert in Iran, but on the other hand, the Director General of the Music Office of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has announced that no request for a concert permit has been submitted by Namjoo to this office so far.
Possibility of Mohsen Namjoo's Concert
Mohsen Namjoo, who has returned to Iran after nearly two decades in a highly publicized manner, expressed his longing for his fans in a post on social media, suggesting this as a prelude to potential concerts in Iran. Position of the Music Office of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance
Babak Rezaei, the Director General of the Music Office of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in response to these statements, emphasized that currently no official request for a concert from Mohsen Namjoo has been received by this office. He also noted that the return of an artist to Iran does not necessarily mean a concert will be held, and any concert requires an official request from the producer to initiate the legal process for obtaining a permit.
As an independent artist, Namjoo has managed to attract a large audience with his works abroad, especially in Europe and America, in recent years. His first album, "Toranj," was released in 2007, and despite the legal challenges he faced in the following years, his name is well-known among fans of underground music in Iran.
In 2009, Mohsen Namjoo was sentenced to five years in prison in Iran for insulting sacred beliefs, but since then he has lived abroad and continued his musical activities. Now, with his return to Iran, he seeks to reconnect with his audience and perform live, but the current conditions and lack of an official permit present new challenges for him.
