Mohsen Hormozi, the Deputy Mayor of Tehran, announced that with the finalization of the contract for the purchase of 125 electric buses, an important step has been taken to improve public transport in the capital. This contract includes 75 buses of 26 meters and 50 buses of 18 meters, which will soon be added to Tehran's fleet. Currently, 101 of these buses are in service, and it is hoped that the rest will soon enter the country.

Status of Double-Decker and Electric Buses

Despite international pressures and sanctions, the arrival of 31 double-decker buses of 18 meters to the country has recently been realized. Hormozi emphasized that the incoming buses have not suffered any damage, and with the cooperation of customs, their clearance process will be facilitated. These buses are part of a total of 200 units for which a contract has been signed with China.

Development of Public Transport Services

Following the increase in the use of public transport, the Tehran Municipality is implementing plans to encourage citizens to use these services. According to reports, the usage rate of the metro has increased by 20% during this time, one reason being the free public transport. According to Hormozi, this approach will help change and improve the ratio of public to personal transport usage.

In addition, the municipality is seeking to implement major plans for the modernization of the public transport fleet and to reduce fuel consumption in the capital. With the increase of electric buses and the development of smart services, we hope that the lifestyle of citizens will change and lead to greater use of public transport.

In conclusion, Mohsen Hormozi referred to the municipality's efforts to modernize the public transport fleet and stated that these efforts are valuable and necessary under the current circumstances. He urged city council members to cooperate more to facilitate the entry and clearance of new buses so they can soon serve the citizens.
