Mohsen Hormizi, the Deputy of Transportation and Traffic of Tehran's Mayor, in his latest statements announced ongoing efforts for the development of the metro in the capital. These efforts include the inauguration of new stations, the production of domestic trains, and the strengthening of the metro fleet, aimed at improving the quality of public transportation and reducing traffic in Tehran.

Metro Development Plans

According to the information provided, the roadmap for Tehran's metro includes several development plans, among which are the opening of new entrances and new stations. In Line 3, the new entrances of Shahid Zeynoddin and Khwaja Abdullah Ansari stations will soon be operational. Additionally, in Line 4, the second entrance of the Ketab Square and Chahaltan Dolab station is being prepared.

Among other important projects is the intersection station 17 Shahrivar in Line 6, which emphasizes the importance of this network in facilitating access to various parts of the city. The station of the shrine of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) is also nearing completion and will soon be added to the metro network.

Production of Domestic Trains and Development of New Lines

Mohsen Hormizi also referred to the production of national trains and stated: "Currently, 5 train sets are under construction, each set consisting of 7 wagons. We hope that by the end of this year, 3 of these trains will be added to Tehran's rail fleet. This action not only helps increase transportation capacity but also boosts domestic production and job creation."

Alongside these projects, the eastern development of Line 2 of the metro from the Farhangsara station to the new East terminal, the eastern and western development of Line 4, and the southern development of Line 6 with the completion of 10 kilometers of rail laying are underway. These projects will gradually become operational, and it is expected that public transportation conditions in Tehran will improve in the near future.

On the other hand, excavation operations for Line 9 of the metro, which is considered one of the major development projects in Tehran, are ongoing. This operation began with the completion of the assembly of the backup section of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and is being pursued in the workshops of Velayat Park and Biheqi. Hormizi announced that the order for the purchase of 2 mechanized excavation machines has been registered, and it is expected that one of these machines will enter the country in 2026.

Tehran's Line 9, with a length of 10 kilometers and 4 stations, will start from Dolatabad and end at Nabard. The prospect of operating this line is anticipated in 2029. Given these plans, it can be hoped that with the development of the metro, Tehran will become a city with more efficient and better public transportation.
