Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President, this morning at the inauguration ceremony of the first academic center for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer in the country, referred to the importance of issues related to children and cancer. He stated that pediatric specialists work hard among all doctors and have a special reward, as children are unable to express their problems, making accurate diagnosis by physicians highly important.

Inauguration of the First Pediatric Cancer Treatment Center

Aref further addressed the importance of cancer treatment in children, saying: "The fear of cancer and its effects and consequences on families cannot be measured." He expressed happiness that this treatment center has been inaugurated in an area where its people are always present in the scene and also referred to existing problems.

He explained that this center, due to the position of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, is not limited to the south or Tehran itself and serves as a reference treatment center, with patients coming from all over the country. Aref also referred to the role of charity and good deeds in Iranian and Islamic culture, stating: "This center is a connection of science, expertise, faith, and selflessness."

Achievements of the Health System and Selflessness in Wars

The First Vice President continued to point out the achievements in the country's health sector, saying: "Despite limitations, today we can be proud of the honors of the country's health system. Iran competes with advanced countries in many medical fields and is among the prominent countries in some areas."

Aref identified human capital as one of the greatest assets of the health system, stating: "This capital includes professors who transfer their knowledge and doctors who are alongside patients in the most difficult conditions." He emphasized the selflessness and efforts of healthcare staff during the war, saying: "In the two recent imposed wars, the performance of the health system was far beyond expectations."

He added: "No hospital in Tehran refused to accept casualties due to capacity shortages, and we must place special trust in Tehran University and its scientific capacities. Many medical procedures that were difficult within the country are now being performed by Iranian doctors."

Aref also emphasized the necessity of continuing efforts in knowledge production and technology development, saying: "We must enhance our position in expanding the boundaries of medical knowledge." He noted that the participation of benefactors in building educational and treatment centers has played an important role in Iran's history.

This ceremony was attended by Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, and other officials from the Ministry of Health. Aref and Zafarghandi also visited various sections of Hakim Children's Hospital and engaged in discussions with patients and their families.
