Mohammad Amin Zangeneh, Secretary of the Renewable Energy Association, recently spoke about the country's high potential in the field of solar energy and emphasized that the current capacity of this energy in Iran is much less than it could be. He pointed out that Iran is one of the best places in the world for solar energy production due to its geographical and climatic conditions, which allow for suitable sunlight exposure, and he has examined the capabilities in this area.
Untapped and Pristine Potentials
Zangeneh noted that the potential for solar energy in Iran is sufficient to be equivalent to the total capacity of the country's power plants. In other words, Iran can easily meet its energy needs by appropriately utilizing solar energy and can even achieve significant successes in energy exports. Currently, however, only a small percentage of this potential is being utilized.

Challenges and Opportunities
The Secretary of the Renewable Energy Association further pointed out the challenges facing the development of solar energy in Iran. He believes that one of the most significant obstacles is the lack of sufficient government support and the absence of necessary infrastructure for investment in this field. Zangeneh also highlighted the need for supportive policies and attracting investors, adding that with appropriate investments, sustainable development and reduced reliance on fossil fuels can be achieved.
Ultimately, Mohammad Amin Zangeneh emphasized the importance of education and increasing public awareness regarding renewable energies, stating: "If people become more familiar with the benefits of solar energy, the demand for this type of energy will naturally increase, which will help develop this industry."
Given the current conditions and the growing need for sustainable energy resources, it seems that focusing on the solar energy potentials in Iran could be an effective solution to the country's energy crises. Therefore, creating suitable infrastructure and supporting investors in this field could lead to national benefits and sustainable job creation.
