Majid Bagheri, Deputy Mayor of Tehran, during a visit to the fourth round of skill enhancement and operational drills for flood and survival in harsh conditions, emphasized the necessity of holding drills to strengthen coordination among various sectors of urban management and rescue operations. He stated: "Since the 12-day war and the imposed war, these drills have been a priority for urban management."
Purpose of Holding Drills
Given the weather conditions and natural disasters that may occur at any moment, holding such drills can play a significant role in the preparedness of the relevant agencies. Bagheri explained in this regard: "In these drills, the anticipated scenarios for possible incidents are examined and analyzed so that the relevant agencies can achieve the necessary preparedness and coordination."
This drill was held with the efforts of the Disaster Prevention and Management Organization, which is responsible for coordinating among agencies, and was conducted with good quality. Representatives from areas related to crisis management participated in this exercise, and appropriate training was provided. Various regions of Tehran participated in this exercise based on zoning, and for each zone, a program and practice tailored to its conditions were considered.
Preparedness for Emergency Conditions
Majid Bagheri considered the purpose of holding these programs to be increasing the preparedness of agencies for service delivery in emergency conditions and stated: "These actions are carried out with one goal; that Tehran citizens have comfort and peace of mind and are assured that the responsible agencies have practiced during calm times."
The Deputy Mayor of Tehran added: "We are seeking to carry out the necessary coordination and plan for possible scenarios so that in the event of an unforeseen incident, we can be alongside the people." These statements indicate that Tehran's urban management is striving to prepare itself for unforeseen events by holding such drills, while also assuring citizens that they will be supported during crises.
In conclusion, Bagheri emphasized the importance of operational drills and noted that such activities can positively impact the performance of institutions and increase public trust. He said: "These drills help us identify weaknesses and strive for continuous improvement."
