Mahdi Chamran, the head of the Tehran City Council, emphasized the necessity of speeding up the review of the comprehensive raw water plan for Chitgar in a recent City Council meeting. Meanwhile, the water problems of the trees in Chitgar have become a serious issue, and according to Chamran, new facilities cannot remedy the pain of the previously dried trees.

Water Problems and Efforts to Secure Resources

In this meeting, Mohammad Javad Khosravi, the mayor of District 22 of Tehran, referred to the water problems of the trees and green spaces in the area and said: "The main reason for the drying of trees and their pollution is water." He also mentioned the transfer of 800 million cubic meters from the Sahand Water Treatment Plant to District 1 and the allocation of three million cubic meters of water from the Lavasan Water Treatment Plant for the green spaces in the forested heights between Lavasan and Tehran. These actions have been taken to address water problems in Districts 18 and 21.

City Council Actions and Concerns

Chamran continued by stating that "no matter how many treatment plants we build, it is for the future," emphasizing that these actions cannot help the status of the previously dried trees. He also shared his initial views on the allocation of funds for the treatment plant, saying: "I was initially against the funding, but after the assessments, I agreed with this issue."

Chamran stressed: "The comprehensive raw water plan must be reviewed and presented more quickly." He also urged council members to work to prevent a recurrence of such a situation for the trees and mentioned that the council will make every effort to preserve the green spaces in other areas of Tehran.

Natural Resources Actions and Challenges Ahead

Khosravi also referred to the issue of removing polluted trees from the park, stating: "The reason for the delay in removing the trees has been media actions." He emphasized that no tree has been cut down or removed by the municipality, and all these actions have been carried out by natural resources with the presence of experts.

The mayor of District 22 explained the situation of the trees, saying: "Some trees appear healthy, but when we peel the bark, they are polluted." This indicates serious challenges in managing green spaces and the existing limitations in watering the trees.

In conclusion, Chamran emphasized that "we must strive to ensure that such a situation does not occur for the trees we planted with great effort," expressing hope that with the cooperation and support of council members, the green spaces of Tehran, especially in Chitgar, will improve.
