The Isfahan International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents, approaching its thirty-eighth edition, has once again come into the spotlight. This event, recognized each year as an important film festival in the field of children and adolescents, continues its activities despite criticisms and structural shortcomings.

Opening Ceremony and Festival Atmosphere

The opening ceremony is held in a consistent manner. Media representatives are transported by bus from Kowsar Hotel to the Isfahan International Conference Center. This venue, away from the city's hustle and bustle, provides a suitable space for the ceremony. Upon arrival, entry card checks are conducted meticulously, but this oversight only lasts until the ceremony begins. After that, the crowd floods into the hall, which itself is a sign of the festival's popularity.

The opening ceremony is led by an energetic host and employs entertaining techniques. In the meantime, the presence of performance groups and drones adds excitement to the event. Children dressed as animated characters come on stage, and their awkward movements somewhat detract from the grandeur of the festival.

Challenges and Criticisms

Despite considerable efforts, the festival has yet to establish itself as a credible source of discussion and debate in children's cinema. Many films presented at the festival do not reach public screening after their showing, which undermines the festival's credibility. This year, with the presence of guests from foreign cinema, questions arise about the impact of this presence on the festival and children's cinema in Iran.

Welcoming guests is considered one of the festival's strengths. However, there is hope that this hospitality will not come with exorbitant costs and that those dissatisfied with the hospitality conditions in previous years will be satisfied this year.

Sales statistics for children's and adolescents' films in the cinema market indicate the unstable state of this cinema. Films like "Rescue Ship" and "Journey to Lemonia" have failed to achieve acceptable sales figures, highlighting the need for change and innovation in children's cinema.

In conclusion, given the difficult conditions of the festival's secretariat, it is hoped that with small measures, this year will bring positive surprises and wonders for the audience.
