The results of the November 3rd U.S. midterm elections, with the Democrats winning in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, sparked a wave of reactions among Iranian officials. Many of them interpreted this defeat as a sign of the "people of America's slap" to Donald Trump and an indication of failure in the war with Iran.
Reactions and Consequences of the Republicans' Defeat
Coinciding with the anniversary of the hostage-taking of U.S. embassy staff in Tehran, Iranian officials reacted to the results of this election. While many Iranian officials reacted cautiously to these results, some emphasized the lack of fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans in foreign policy.
