Gholamreza Noori, the Minister of Agriculture, responded to questions about the fluctuations in the prices of essential items such as chicken, milk, and oil, stating that the current price of chicken does not have an unusual upward trend and is in the process of adjusting to equilibrium rates.
Reasons for the Increase in Chicken Prices
He pointed out the losses faced by poultry farmers in recent months, saying: "The low price of chicken in previous weeks was unrealistic and resulted from issues in the coupon system, settlements with stores, and other factors that unfortunately harmed poultry farmers." Noori continued that current prices are approaching equilibrium rates and have not exceeded them. Therefore, there is no concern about a price surge, and production and chick rearing are being managed carefully to prevent losses for producers and to firmly address any instances of price gouging.

The Impact of Economic Fluctuations on Prices
The Minister of Agriculture further explained the concerns of citizens regarding the mismatch between prices and incomes and the lack of relative stability: "With changes in the exchange rate and macroeconomic indicators, the prices of goods are also affected." He noted that in the livestock sector, a significant portion of inputs such as corn, barley, and meal are imported and supplied with foreign currency. Although fodder is produced domestically, the ancillary costs, machinery, equipment, and services of livestock farms are also directly or indirectly dependent on these fluctuations.
The Status of the Oil Market and Domestic Achievements
Noori discussed the status of the oil market, stating: "Unlike many food items that have faced price increases globally, the price of oil has not changed significantly and is even lower in some cases than in previous months, and there is no problem in this regard."
The Minister of Agriculture also reported on domestic production achievements, saying: "This year, with an increase in domestic production, we will see at least a 2 million ton reduction in imports of essential goods and livestock inputs, which is an important step towards self-sufficiency." These statements reflect the government's determination to strengthen domestic production and reduce reliance on imports.
