- Whole milk: 2 cups
- Sugar: half a cup
- Egg yolks: 4
- Whipped cream: 250 grams
- Gelatin powder: 10 grams
- Vanilla: a quarter teaspoon
- Cold water: half a cup
First, gently sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water and let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes spongy. Then separate the egg yolks from the whites and whisk them with sugar until you achieve a light and thick mixture.
Place the whole milk along with the vanilla in a saucepan over low heat to warm it up. Then add the warm milk to the egg yolk and sugar mixture while whisking together. This helps to gradually warm the yolks and prevents them from cooking suddenly.
Cooking and Preparing the Dessert
Return the mixture to the saucepan and place it over low heat until it thickens slightly. Then remove the saucepan from the heat and add the gelatin to the mixture, stirring well until it dissolves. After this step, allow the base of the dessert to cool down.
Pour the cold cream into a clean bowl and whip it with an electric mixer until it becomes fluffy and forms peaks. At this stage, gently fold the cream into the dessert base mixture, stirring slowly to maintain its volume. Pour the prepared dessert into a silicone mold or individual serving dishes and refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours until it sets well.
Once ready, you can either unmold the Bavarian cream or serve it in the same dish. For decorating this delicious dessert, use fresh fruits, chocolate sauce, or chopped nuts.
As an important tip, always keep the temperature of the custard under control. High heat may cause the yolks to curdle and the texture of the dessert to become grainy. Also, if you wish to prepare Bavarian cream in different flavors, you can divide the dessert base into three parts and mix each part with different flavorings such as chocolate or coffee.
