The conditions for studying Dentistry in various European universities and neighboring countries, especially for Iranian applicants, is an important and complex topic. This article examines the conditions and necessary exams for admission to this field.
Documents and Entrance Exams
Okan Private University has provided a list of required documents in its international application guidelines, including passport, educational certificate, high school transcripts, and language proficiency certificate, and has explained the online application process. These documents alone do not guarantee that all applicants for Dentistry will be accepted without additional assessments. In public universities, valid exams and admission capacities are reviewed separately.

For studying Dentistry in the UK, the University of Bristol is one of the prominent examples. The five-year BDS program at this university requires not only academic qualifications but also the UCAT exam, and it uses scores from specific sections of this exam to select candidates for interviews. One of the language requirements is an IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7 in each skill. Alternative qualifications will also be accepted. None of these conditions alone guarantee admission.
Study Opportunities in Other Countries
Siena University has introduced a six-year Dentistry program in English with limited admissions for the 2026–2027 academic year. The entrance exam for this university is conducted according to Italian national regulations, and the date has been set for September 29, 2026. For non-European applicants residing abroad, ensuring administrative permission to participate in the exam is essential.
In Hungary, Semmelweis University consists of a university exam that includes written tests in medical biology, medical chemistry, general English, and biomedical sciences. Proficiency in English cannot replace scientific knowledge in this exam. Additionally, for admission to Yerevan State Medical University, applicants must provide a secondary education certificate and success in two optional exams from physics, chemistry, and biology.
Before proceeding with studies, it is also important to verify the accreditation of universities and the regulations regarding document evaluation. The accreditation of a university or previous certifications does not guarantee effective evaluation of documents. If your intention is to return to Iran after completing your studies, be sure to check the list of universities approved by the Ministry of Health.
