The collaboration between the Tehran Vehicle Technical Inspection Center and Iran Khodro Industrial Group to establish the infrastructure for the inspection of electric and hybrid vehicles was signed. In a ceremony held today, Tuesday, September 24, 1405, Mohammad Mehdi Razazadeh, CEO of the Tehran Vehicle Technical Inspection Center, and Mohammad Reza Ramazani, CEO of Iran Khodro Industrial Group, signed this memorandum of understanding.
The Necessity of Developing Clean Transportation in Tehran
In this ceremony, Mohammad Mehdi Razazadeh emphasized the challenges of air pollution and fossil fuel consumption in the capital, stating: "Tehran's urban management needs to develop clean transportation and modernize the fleet based on electric vehicles." He added that the introduction of these vehicles could help reduce air and noise pollution, but to ensure their safety and technical health, necessary mechanisms need to be established.

Technical Inspection of Electric Vehicles; A Requirement for Safety
The CEO of the Tehran Vehicle Technical Inspection Center rejected the notion that electric vehicles do not require technical inspection, stating: "Being electric does not mean there is no need for technical inspection, and the evaluation of these vehicles must change based on the technologies used." He explained that in electric and hybrid vehicles, special attention must be paid to issues such as battery health and stability, the safety of high-voltage systems, and brake performance.
Razazadeh continued: "Specialized technical inspection of electric vehicles is one of the requirements for maintaining safe and clean transportation, and without conducting specialized tests, even a vehicle that has environmental advantages can become a safety threat."
Establishing Specialized Technical Inspection Lines
The memorandum with Iran Khodro Industrial Group includes the establishment and equipping of specialized technical inspection lines for electric and hybrid vehicles. Razazadeh stated that these lines should be established based on current and international standards to enable continuous testing and evaluation of the technical health and safety of clean vehicles.
He also emphasized the joint development of evaluation standards and inspection and monitoring guidelines for electric and hybrid vehicles, stating: "The development of regulatory and technical infrastructure must occur simultaneously with the entry of electric vehicles into the urban fleet to ensure their technical health."
Specialized Technical Inspection; An Advantage for Automakers
Razazadeh, addressing the media, pointed out that the technical inspection of electric vehicles should not be viewed merely as a legal requirement, stating: "The quality and safety of electric vehicles are among the main concerns of consumers, and if vehicles can pass through the precise filters of specialized technical inspection, this can become a competitive advantage for automakers."
In conclusion, the CEO of the Tehran Vehicle Technical Inspection Center emphasized that Tehran can lead in the region in specialized technical inspection of electric vehicles and the establishment of safety and regulatory infrastructure for these vehicles through collaboration with the automotive industry.
