Arman Khalighi, Secretary General of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, discussed the existing economic challenges and the impacts of wage increases on workers' lives in an interview. He stated that some in the government still believe that wage increases lead to inflation, but economic realities indicate that this issue needs to be reconsidered.
Decline in Workers' Purchasing Power
Wage increases throughout the year due to rising inflation gradually lead to a decline in workers' purchasing power. Khalighi stated in this regard: "Currently, workers are facing a serious livelihood gap that requires attention and smart economic management." He emphasized that this issue should be viewed as a social crisis.

Smart Economic Management
Khalighi further pointed out that wage increases without proper management and planning could lead to rising prices and consequently, more inflation. He said: "We must help workers maintain their purchasing power and relieve them from livelihood pressures through correct and efficient economic policies."
This official also highlighted the importance of long-term planning to improve workers' living conditions, adding: "Only by formulating appropriate policies can we achieve economic and social improvement." He urged the government to pay attention not only to short-term and purely economic aspects but also to the human and livelihood dimensions of workers.
The Necessity of Attention to Workers' Livelihoods
Ultimately, Arman Khalighi called for greater attention to workers' livelihoods and the provision of their basic needs. He stated: "The government must respond to the real needs of workers and implement continuous and sustainable programs instead of temporary policies." Khalighi's concerns and suggestions reflect serious challenges in the economic and livelihood spheres of workers and highlight the necessity for changes in economic approaches and policies.
