Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, in a meeting with the managers and council of deputies of the Cultural and Artistic Organization of Tehran Municipality, emphasized the religious and national responsibilities of urban management and said: "May God give you strength to carry the heavy burden that is upon you to reach your destination."

Religious and National Responsibilities

Zakani pointed out that Iran today should be regarded as a sanctuary, stating: "We have a great religious responsibility to realize the goals of religion and a significant national responsibility to elevate Iran." He emphasized the importance of a civilizational perspective on cultural missions and said: "If we have a civilizational outlook, we will understand the magnitude of our responsibility."

Cultural Centers and Society

The Mayor of Tehran further expressed high expectations from the Cultural and Artistic Organization of Tehran Municipality, stating: "Compared to the past, we have a new and more comprehensive perspective on cultural activities." He mentioned that cultural centers should act as a continuous link to mosques, schools, and families and, by creating cultural capacities, we should aim to become a model and creative city.

Zakani also discussed the role of culture and art in confronting opposing currents, saying: "Today, the enemy has come to us with the tools of culture and art, and this area has become our Achilles' heel. He continued: "We must make extra efforts to compensate for this backwardness and influence society."

Attention to the Gray Sector of Society

Zakani emphasized the need to pay attention to the diversity and multiplicity of Iranian society, stating: "We should focus more on specific segments of society, such as adolescents and women, who are the drivers of progress." He stressed that we must prioritize elements that society values and leverage the cultural and discursive capacities of the country.

The Mayor of Tehran also referred to the role of cultural centers in the cultural policy of urban management, saying: "We must create an identity for Tehran and produce artistic works that contribute to cultural development." He emphasized that an engaging film or theater can lead to a change in people's lifestyles and ultimately guide them towards a correct Iranian-Islamic lifestyle.

Zakani concluded by noting that attention to the gray sector of society should be prioritized, and the Cultural and Artistic Organization of Tehran Municipality has a unique opportunity to connect with and impact this segment.
