Ahmad Gharebaghian, the CEO of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization, announced that the current blood reserves in the country are in a satisfactory condition. However, sustainable supply of blood and blood products for hospitals and medical centers across the country requires continuous and daily participation from donors throughout the year.

Decrease in Blood Donations in the Second Half of the Year

Gharebaghian pointed out that the amount of blood donations usually decreases in the second half of the year. According to him, changing weather conditions, shorter days, and the reopening of schools and educational centers are among the factors that affect the number of volunteers. This issue is particularly noticeable in Tehran and Sistan and Baluchestan, and he has urged the people in these areas to visit blood donation centers more frequently to maintain adequate reserves.

The Necessity of Sufficient Blood Reserves

Gharebaghian emphasized the importance of having sufficient and stable blood reserves, stating that this is essential to meet the needs of medical centers. He added: "The goal of the Blood Transfusion Organization is to provide sufficient and necessary products to patients so that no patient faces delays in surgery or receiving medical services due to a lack of blood."

The CEO also referred to the potential for future crises, saying: "If we anticipate a possible war, a crisis committee will be formed, and necessary planning will be done to ensure we do not face difficulties in securing blood." These statements indicate that the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization is seriously considering potential future conditions and preparing for them.

Collaboration with Universities and Medical Centers

Gharebaghian also announced collaboration with medical universities and treatment centers to facilitate the blood donation process. He stated: "These collaborations have yielded good results during crises and efforts are being made to expand them nationwide." By utilizing the capacity of doctors, nurses, and other personnel from medical universities, parts of the blood donation processes, including medical examinations, donor information registration, and blood collection, can be conducted at medical centers, using existing facilities and human resources to facilitate this process.

In conclusion, the CEO of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization emphasized the importance of continuous blood donation throughout the year and called for public participation to maintain stable reserves and meet patient needs. He invited all blood donors and those who have not yet experienced this humanitarian act to join the ranks of donors and participate in this important endeavor.
