Abdolmahtab Mohammadkhani, spokesperson for Tehran Municipality, in a candid interview with Hamshahri TV, examined the 'Zero Inflation' plan and emphasized that the Citizen Store and vegetable markets should not seek to make a profit. This plan, designed to reduce prices and facilitate citizens' access to daily necessities, faces various challenges and obstacles.
Why Should Stores Not Make Profit?
Mohammadkhani further explained that the main goal of this plan is to support low-income groups and reduce economic pressure on households. According to him, in a situation where inflation is sharply rising, creating a competitive and healthy environment for the supply of essential goods can help improve people's living conditions. He added: "The Citizen Store and vegetable markets should operate as public entities and instead of making a profit, they should focus on meeting the basic needs of the people."

The spokesperson for Tehran Municipality also referred to the positive consequences of this plan, stating that with its implementation, one can expect a decrease in the prices of goods and easier access to daily necessities for all citizens. Mohammadkhani also responded to criticisms regarding the implementation of this plan and emphasized that the urban management will make every effort to overcome the existing obstacles and problems in achieving this goal.
He concluded by saying: "As urban management, we have a responsibility to respond to the people's problems, and in this regard, the 'Zero Inflation' plan is one of our most important actions to support vulnerable groups in society." This plan seems to be an effective solution for reducing economic pressure on citizens and requires the cooperation and solidarity of all institutions and individuals.
