Seyed Hossein Sadat Hosseini, the head of the Mobile and Accessories Specialized Commission of the Iran Chamber of Guilds, recently discussed the status of the registration and registration of traveler's mobile phones and emphasized that significant changes are underway in this regard. He highlighted the key points raised in this meeting, stressing the need to revise the process of registering traveler's mobile phones and announced that three important components including after-sales service, device authenticity verification, and security requirements will be considered in this process.
Importing Mobile Phones and Its Challenges
Sadat Hosseini referred to the status of mobile phone imports since the beginning of this year and stated: "According to the provided statistics, this year about $200 million worth of mobile phone imports have been made through commercial channels and approximately the same amount through traveler channels. It is expected that the share of traveler imports will be significantly less than commercial imports." Developing a New Structure and the Role of Market Actors
The head of the Mobile and Accessories Specialized Commission of the Iran Chamber of Guilds emphasized the necessity of designing and developing a new structure for the registration of traveler's mobile phones. According to him, the aim of these reforms is to organize the market, strengthen oversight, protect consumer rights, and create greater transparency in the process of entering and supplying mobile phones. Additionally, Sadat Hosseini noted that representatives of the guild and market actors will also have a consultative and expert role in this area to help improve the new mechanism by conveying their views and experiences to decision-makers.
He further referred to the status of some mobile phones for which registration fees have been paid in recent weeks but activation codes have not been received, stating: "Given that payments for this group have been made and the amounts have reached customs, it was decided that necessary measures would be taken to send activation codes from the Hamta system to resolve the issues of this category of applicants."
Ultimately, Sadat Hosseini identified the main goal of reforming the process of registering traveler's mobile phones as organizing the market and ensuring consumer interests, emphasizing the need to pay attention to security requirements and device authenticity. These promising changes could help improve market conditions and provide better services to consumers.
