The construction project of the overpass in Aftab City with the Tehran-Qom Freeway, located at kilometer 8 of the Persian Gulf Freeway, has now reached a new stage and with 53% progress, is being prepared to have positive impacts on improving traffic and communications in the region.
The Vital Role of the Project in Urban Communications
City managers believe that this project plays a very important role in establishing safe, fast, and direct communication between the Tehran-Qom Freeway, the Aftab City exhibition complex, the city of Kahrizak, and the area around the holy shrine of Imam Khomeini (RA). This project not only helps improve access to the city of Kahrizak but also increases the traffic capacity of the Tehran-Qom Freeway in this area, leading to reduced travel time and increased traffic safety.
Continuation of Construction Operations and Future Plans
Mahdi Sadaqati, the CEO of the Engineering and Construction Organization of Tehran Municipality, emphasized the continuation of construction operations in various sections of this project, stating that to complete some remaining access points, the construction of the northern expressway of the Tehran-Qom Freeway has been prioritized. According to him, the substructure of the 2,700-meter-long northern expressway, with a width of 35 meters, has been completed, and it is expected that 4,500 tons of asphalt will be spread and executed in this route starting next week.
Sadaqati also added: "Completing this expressway and permanently transferring traffic from the east to the west of the Tehran-Qom Freeway will pave the way for the implementation of the northern slow lane, the construction of the remaining two bridges, the reconstruction of the main axis of Aftab City, and the execution of two loops from east to south and south to west."
He also announced the relocation and reinstallation of 23 light poles and the relocation and installation of approximately 3 kilometers of New Jersey barriers for the execution and commissioning of this route. Sadaqati stated that by the end of October, in coordination with the Tehran Provincial Road Police and the City of Rey Road Maintenance, this section of the Tehran-Qom Freeway will be transferred to the new route.
The progress of the overpass project in Aftab City with the Tehran-Qom Freeway, as one of the important construction projects in Tehran, promises a better future for residents and pilgrims in this area, and it is expected that with the completion of this project, we will witness positive changes in traffic and urban infrastructure.
