Whole chicken is offered in chain stores on Imam Khomeini Street in Tehran at a price of 250,000 tomans per kilogram. This price change comes at a time when the price of chicken had reached 400,000 tomans per kilogram in recent months. It seems that the increase in chick placement and adequate supply of inputs in recent months has contributed to the increase in chicken production.
Increase in chicken production with appropriate chick placement
The CEO of the Meat Poultry Farmers Union has announced that chick placement in September reached 140 million pieces, which exceeds the country's needs. This increase in production, along with government decisions to purchase and store surplus chicken, could help reduce prices.

Self-sufficiency and chicken exports
The Minister of Agriculture announced last month that the country has achieved self-sufficiency in chicken production and that chicken exports have also been liberalized. These government decisions, along with increased production, seem to be paving the way for price reductions in the chicken market. Currently, the country needs two million tons of chicken annually, and the production capacity reaches three million tons.
Currently, the price of chicken thighs has also dropped to less than 200,000 tomans. These price changes can benefit families and consumers, especially in a situation where food prices have been significantly high.
The change in chicken prices and its impacts on people's livelihoods are becoming more evident day by day. Given the current economic conditions, the reduction in chicken prices could be a sign of improvement in production and distribution in this industry.
