Ukraine has made a significant decision to launch its own independent satellite communication network to enhance its communication autonomy. This project is being carried out in collaboration with ISI and Nokia, aiming to reduce dependence on foreign satellite services, especially Starshield, which has recently faced access restrictions.

Background and Necessity of Action

The Ukrainian government, considering the challenges ahead in the communication sector and the need for a stable and independent infrastructure, has concluded that it must move towards creating a fully indigenous network. Particularly in the current situation, where political and military tensions in the region have sharply increased, the existence of an independent communication network can help meet communication needs during crises.

The restrictions imposed on Starshield, which is considered one of the main satellite communication services in Ukraine, have prompted the government to seek new solutions. These restrictions, especially in wartime conditions and crises that Ukraine is grappling with, can severely impact both internal and external communications.

Project Details and International Collaborations

To achieve this goal, Ukraine has engaged in collaboration with two reputable international companies, ISI and Nokia. ISI, as a leading company in space technology and communications, will utilize its capabilities in designing and implementing satellite networks. Additionally, Nokia, with its long-standing history in communication technology, will assist Ukraine in this project as a technological and consulting partner.

This collaboration is expected to help Ukraine quickly achieve an independent communication network that can meet the communication needs of citizens and government entities during crises. Given the previous experiences of the two companies in similar fields, this project could also serve as a successful model for other countries.

Ultimately, with the launch of this network, Ukraine can become an independent and sustainable model in satellite communications and demonstrate to other countries how to stand firm against global challenges.
