The Trump administration has reached an agreement with representatives from Denmark and Greenland that, according to the President of the United States, will incur no cost to the United States. Donald Trump announced on Friday on his social media platform Truth Social that this agreement allows the United States to take necessary actions to ensure the security and defense of Greenland and America "forever."
An Agreement for Control and Security
Trump emphasized in this statement that from now on, none of America's rivals can establish military bases or make sensitive investments in Greenland without written consent from Washington. Referring to the historical strategic importance of Greenland, he said, "Previous presidents of the United States have been aware of the strategic importance of Greenland for over 100 years, but none have been able to take action in this regard."

The President of the United States proudly referred to his role in a "permanent and definitive solution" to this issue and described the duration of this agreement as infinite. According to him, this agreement allows the United States to expand its military presence in Greenland and collaborate with the people of the island on development and construction.
Tensions in International Relations
Trump considers this agreement a solution for the United States, Denmark, Greenland, and America's allies, stating: "We eagerly look forward to working with the people of Denmark and Greenland for a great future concerning this large and strategic territory." He also pointed out that the United States will "strongly protect" Greenland and deemed this agreement the realization of a dream for the United States.
However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had previously expressed hope that the United States and Denmark could reach a peaceful solution regarding issues related to the Arctic region and Greenland. Meanwhile, Trump has increased pressures to take control of Greenland, causing a crisis in relations between the United States and Europe and escalating tensions within the NATO military alliance.
The President of the United States claims that Denmark, as a NATO member, is unable to defend Greenland, and for this reason, the United States must take control of the island. Meanwhile, the Greenlandic government has reacted to these claims, emphasizing that the island belongs to its people and will never be sold.
