Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, in an interview with Fox News on Sunday, described the state of the war with Russia and the challenges facing his country. He called for a reciprocal agreement to end attacks on Russian refineries, pointing to Russia's repeated attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Sensitive Conditions of War and the Need for Agreement

Zelensky stated in this interview that Ukraine cannot remain silent in response to Russia's attacks on energy infrastructure, including electricity and gas, as well as the killing of civilians. He said, "If you want us not to attack Russian refineries, they should not attack our energy system." These remarks reflect the intensity of the conflicts and the pressures that Ukraine, as a country at war, is experiencing.

Zelensky announced that another alternative for this situation is providing Patriot missiles to Ukraine. He proposed to Washington that if missile systems are made available to Ukraine for one month, Kyiv would also cease attacks on Russian refineries for the same duration. This proposal is seen as a tool to reduce military tensions and create a calming atmosphere.

Domestic Challenges and International Demands

The government of Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is facing domestic challenges, including rising energy prices and inflation. Trump has urged both sides involved to stop attacking each other's energy facilities. This request is framed as an effort to reduce tensions and maintain economic stability in the U.S.

Patriot missiles, which are among the most important weapons for Ukraine in facing military threats from Russia, are particularly used for intercepting drones and Russian missiles. The U.S. State Department announced last week that the Trump administration has agreed to sell 500 Patriot missiles worth $2.1 billion to Ukraine. However, Zelensky warned that the delivery of these missiles could take years, highlighting the logistical and timing challenges in military support for Ukraine.

In this context, Zelensky, as a representative of the Ukrainian people, is striving to maintain the security and stability of his country against increasing threats while garnering international support. With a deep understanding of the current situation, he is seeking ways to reduce tensions and create constructive negotiations.
