The Trump administration has faced various developments in its foreign policy in recent days. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, quickly denied claims following a report suggesting a proposal to reduce sanctions on Iran, calling it a "lie."

Axios Claim and Trump's Response

A report published by a media outlet claimed that the U.S. is prepared to offer sanctions relief to Iran in exchange for specific steps from Iran regarding its nuclear program and to release the country's frozen assets. Following this report, Trump wrote in his message: "Axios has just published a report claiming that Trump offered Iran a reduction in sanctions and the release of frozen financial resources. This is not true. I did not offer them anything!"

Analysis by the U.S. Secretary of State

Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, elaborated on the dangers posed by the Islamic Republic's nuclear program in an interview, stating: "If Iran had a nuclear weapon that could threaten its neighbors and the world, no one could do anything about the straits." He also emphasized that Iran is seeking to accumulate conventional weapons to achieve absolute military power. Rubio clarified that Iran's goal is to obtain nuclear weapons and threaten other countries.

Rubio further referred to Iran's economic situation, saying: "It's tragic because Iran is a country with immense potential. Its people are extraordinary, hardworking, intelligent, and have an ancient history." He also criticized the economic policies of the Iranian government, stating that instead of improving the people's livelihoods, the country has used its financial resources to fund militia and terrorist groups.

Possible Consequences of Trump's Denial

Following this denial, the diplomatic situation between Iran and the United States will remain tense. Trump noted in his statements that if the Democratic Party had taken power in the U.S., "they would not have been willing to stop Iran from having nuclear weapons." These positions reflect the United States' determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

While efforts for mediation between Iran and the U.S. are underway by other countries, Trump's and his Secretary's statements indicate that the United States is reluctant to change its stance towards Iran. The future of relations between the two countries will depend on future political and diplomatic developments.
