Maleki emphasized that for this reason, volunteer firefighters, especially at higher levels, possess significant knowledge and skills and can participate in safety and rescue programs within the framework of their training and capabilities.
Beyond Annual Programs
Maleki pointed out the Tehran City Council's mandate to develop the volunteer firefighter program, stating: According to this plan, the Fire Department is required to train 2,500 individuals annually as volunteer firefighters. He continued: This year, up to the time of this event, 2,644 individuals have been trained, indicating that the organization's performance has exceeded the set program.
Despite wartime conditions and limitations in conducting some classes and providing educational facilities, training continued without interruption or delay. Maleki also referred to the difference between training volunteer firefighters and general citizen education, stating: The Fire Department has a comprehensive program for educating citizens in addition to the specialized training for volunteers.
The Role of Volunteer Firefighters in Crisis Situations
Volunteer firefighters have played a significant role in crisis situations, especially during wars and various incidents. Maleki referred to the 12-day and 40-day wars, stating: Volunteers assisted the organization in various programs and missions. They also actively participated in important city events, including funerals and religious ceremonies.
The spokesperson for the Tehran Fire Department, while appreciating the efforts of volunteer firefighters, emphasized that these individuals, believing in social responsibility and without financial expectations, are dedicated to the safety of citizens. They have always stated that they are ready to help the city and its residents.
Public Training and Participation in Increasing Safety
Maleki also announced educational programs in schools, markets, and metro stations, stating: These programs are executed in collaboration with volunteer trainers. In the Tehran market, about 200,000 to 250,000 merchants receive training monthly. These trainers, with 17 to 20 years of experience, play a crucial role in enhancing the safety of citizens.
Despite existing challenges, the Fire Department is striving to maximize safety training by utilizing available resources and instilling a culture of safety among citizens.
