The excavation of the longest metro line in Tehran, Line 9, officially began with a length of 53 kilometers and 38 stations. This project, which is divided into two sections, is expected to create a significant transformation in the public transportation system of the capital. Roham Parvaz, the executor of Line 9 of the metro, noted the benefits of this project, stating: "With the implementation of this line, we will have at least one interchange station with all current and new lines."

Project Details and Its Stations

The Line 9 metro project is divided into two main sections. Section one of this line is currently under construction in a specified area, while section five is located in the Chitgar region. According to the project executor, section five includes four stations and will be operational using the NATM excavation method (Tunnel excavation using advanced techniques). This method has gained popularity in large urban projects due to its high efficiency and reduced risks associated with traditional excavations.

Impacts on Public Transportation

With the operation of Line 9 of the metro, a new rail loop will be created around the city of Tehran. This loop will not only facilitate the movement of citizens but will also lead to a reduction in urban traffic and air pollution. Roham Parvaz added: "This project will ultimately establish connections between Line 11 and other metro lines, providing complete coverage for the entire city." These connections are particularly important for residents of the city's peripheral and remote areas.

Overall, this project is recognized as one of the largest and most significant public transportation projects in the history of Tehran and is expected to have a lot of positive impacts on the daily lives of the city's residents in the coming years. Especially in a time when the need for efficient and sustainable public transportation systems in large cities is increasingly felt, Line 9 can be considered a successful model.
