The second foreign airline landed today (October 18) at Imam Khomeini Airport amid ongoing threats from the United States against companies cooperating with Iran. The Muscat-Tehran flight of Salam Air, as another representative of international efforts to establish air connections, has resumed after a several-month halt.

Consequences of U.S. Air Sanctions

The new air sanctions, which began a month ago, especially with the threats from Scott Basset, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, have severely impacted Iran's aviation activities. Basset had explicitly stated that access to the global financial system for airlines and airports cooperating with Iran would be cut off. This action, which has repeatedly been mentioned as part of the maximum pressure strategy against Iran, has raised concerns among travelers and aviation industry professionals.

Salam Air's Flight Schedule

After returning to the skies of Iran, Salam Air has planned to operate flights between Tehran and Muscat regularly twice a week. Flights will take place on Sundays and Fridays, and passenger check-in and boarding operations on this route are established. Given the current conditions, this action can be seen as a sign of efforts to strengthen international connections during sanctions.

It seems that despite the existing challenges, there is a determination among airlines to revive their activities. This can be particularly hopeful for Iranian travelers looking to travel to foreign destinations. Considering that these flights begin at a time when many airlines have reduced their operations due to financial pressures and sanctions, Salam Air can serve as a model for other airlines.

Experience has shown that the aviation industry has always been resilient against economic and political challenges and has been able to adapt to rapid and sudden changes. With this trend continuing, it is possible that other foreign airlines will soon return to Iran, which could benefit travelers and the country's economy.
