Forough Farrokhzad's house, a remnant of one of the greatest contemporary poets of Iran, is now on the path of restoration and revival. Masoud Rashid, the technical and executive deputy of the Cultural Spaces Development Company of Tehran Municipality, reported on the process of acquiring this building and the challenges related to its restoration. This house came to the attention of urban activists in 2019 due to the efforts of the then-owner to obtain a construction permit and was registered as a national heritage.
Challenges of Restoration and Acquisition
Rashid explained that the process of acquiring Forough Farrokhzad's house took about two years, and in late 2021, this property was handed over to the municipality. During this time, studies and restoration plans for the building began, and due to the historical and cultural significance of this house, supervision over the restoration stages is being conducted meticulously. He also mentioned that the structural condition of the building required serious reinforcement, and this operation has been successfully completed.

The technical and executive deputy of the Cultural Spaces Development Company also referred to the issue of obtaining cultural heritage permits and said: "The restoration of the houses of prominent figures is subject to specific regulations and sensitivities of cultural heritage, and this may prolong the process. However, the project has not been halted during this time, and necessary actions have continued."
Discovery of the Qajar Pool
Mitra Jaloudari, the project manager for urban space organization at the Cultural Spaces Development Company, referred to the findings from studies in the basement of the house. Based on soundings and speculations, pools have been discovered in the basement of this building that are believed to date back to the Qajar era. These findings have doubled the historical significance of this building and indicate its various historical layers.
Jaloudari also mentioned the changes that have occurred in the building and said that over time, some sections have changed and need to be examined. The proximity of Forough Farrokhzad's house to the house of Anis al-Dawlah may also help create cultural pathways related to influential women in the history of Iran.
Now, with the completion of the reinforcement operations, the restoration project has entered a new phase. Rashid emphasized that they will strive to return the materials and details of the building to their original state, and after restoration, the project will enter the stage of revival and identity restoration. He also expressed hope that with the provision of financial resources, this project will reach a stage within a year where a clearer picture of Forough's house after restoration and revival can be presented.
Given the upcoming stages and the historical significance of this house, everyone is waiting for this cultural remnant to come back to life and remain as a cultural and historical site for future generations.
