Mohammad Mehdi Azizi, the CEO of the City Patrol and Boundary Protection Company of Tehran Municipality, announced the start of the installation of 1,400 body cameras on the uniforms of the forces of this organization. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with a mobile operator and the Information Technology Organization of Tehran Municipality, with the goal of improving the oversight infrastructure in the city.

Infrastructure advancements for better oversight

Azizi further stated: "A significant portion of the issues related to communication infrastructure and the operation of body and vehicle cameras has been resolved. Currently, 30 cameras have been piloted on the uniforms of the forces, and their performance is under review." These assessments will help identify and resolve potential issues to pave the way for broader use of this equipment.

Gradual expansion of camera installation

The CEO of the City Patrol and Boundary Protection Company also referred to plans for the use of 1,400 body cameras throughout the city, stating: "Once the proper functioning of the equipment is ensured, the cameras will be distributed to the relevant forces on a regional basis, and their installation and operation will be gradually expanded." This approach reflects the urban management's firm commitment to enhancing oversight quality and preventing violations.

Azizi also announced the completion of the installation of vehicle cameras, emphasizing: "Every 60 sets of planned vehicle cameras have been installed, and this section of equipment will also be used to strengthen oversight infrastructure." These cameras will serve as an effective tool in enhancing urban discipline and providing more precise oversight of the forces' performance.

The role of technology in enhancing oversight quality

The CEO of the City Patrol and Boundary Protection Company emphasized: "The goal of developing these infrastructures is to utilize technological capacity to enhance oversight quality, prevent violations, and improve the effectiveness of the missions of the City Patrol and Boundary Protection Company." By using surveillance cameras, not only is the preventive aspect strengthened, but it also enables more precise oversight of the forces' performance and better evaluation of mission execution processes.

These developments in the field of urban oversight seem to be an important step in enhancing security and social discipline in Tehran. By providing appropriate infrastructures, Tehran Municipality hopes to reduce violations while improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
